Upcoming Events
Resolutions
Begin the new year with a rousing concert featuring contemporary works for the string orchestra, including pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Jessie Montgomery, and John Rutter. We will conclude the evening with a scrumptious dessert reception.
The Lawrence Community Orchestra offers Pay What You Wish tickets for the “Resolutions” concert. One of our founding values is accessibility, and we want to ensure that anyone who wants to experience the LCO has the opportunity. By removing cost as a barrier for entry, this new model is another step along the road to make our concerts accessible to everyone.
Jubilee Concert
The Lawrence Community Orchestra joins the Lawrence Civic Choir to celebrate the LCC’s 50th anniversary. The concert features Brahms’ A German Reqiuem and Dvorak’s Carnival Overture.
Voices of Women
Join us as we celebrate women composers and artists, with Symphony No. 1 in E Minor by Florence Price, as well as compositions by Kansas composers Dr. Ingrid Stölzel and Dr. Alyssa Morris. Our featured guest artist will be singer/songwriter Heidi Gluck.
Springtime Classics
Co-Music Director Matt Smith and guest conductor and KU Director of Orchestral Activities Creston Herron lead the orchestra in Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 in G minor and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished.”
Baroque by Candlelight: A Tour of Italy
This year’s Baroque By Candlelight program will continue the LCO’s rich tradition of baroque music performances, featuring Italian composers.
